About 'Kare Bears' Private Day Nurseries The first five years are the most critical of any developmental period in the entire lifespan? Never again will the child be so totally dependant upon adults, parents, care givers and teachers, to satisfy the needs of life and to provide opportunities for learning. In those years a child learns to trust, to pursue curiosity and interact with people. Your child will benefit most from day care when we all work together. Please think of us your support team. We are always available to talk with you. We welcome your ideas, questions and involvement. You are welcome to visit at any time. Basically we are an extension of your home, devoted to providing similar security, care and attention to individual needs and working closely with you, the parent. We provide an environment where children can come together in a group designed to promote positive growth socially, mentally, physically, and emotionally. In this environment we challenge, teach, inspire and most of all have fun. Your child's entrance into our Nursery is the beginning if the great step from home to school. Each age group has a wide variety of materials, equipment and activities to enhance every stage of development and all of our rooms are monitered by CCTV. Enclosed gardens and playgrounds are provided with a wide selection of outdoor equipment. Questions Asked by Parents 1. What is the staff ratio? We maintain staff/child ratio set by Home First Trust 0 - 2 years 1 Staff Member for 3 Children 2 - 3 years 1 Staff Member for 4 Children Over 3 years 1 Staff Members for 8 Children 2. What are the Staff Qualifications? To fulfil Home First requirements each nursery has qualified nursery staff with childcare certificate to level NVQ3 and others with level 2 or similar. 3. When are payments Due? At the end of each week, or monthly if you so desire. Accounts will be presented on the 15th of the month and must be paid by the last banking day of each month. 4. Do i need to bring food for my child? No, we provide Breakfast with cereals and toast, hot cooked lunch including vegetables and a variety of deserts. Snacks - 3 per day including fresh fruit. The menus are approved by Home FIrst Trust are posted daily in nurseries. If your child has individual dietary requirements please discuss at interview. Parents of young infants provide prepared bottles and any baby food they wish their child to have. 5. While your child is drinking formula milk, please bring the required number of bottles each day clearly marked with your child's name, also nappies, baby wipes and cream. 6. What do i need to bring for my child? We ask that each child has a complete change of clothes kept in the nursery. If your child has a special blanket or cuddly toy for sleep time, please bring that as well. 7. From what age do you take my child? Full day care and half day care is provided for children from six weeks to school age. and after school to P7. 8. What if I can't pick up my child? When you register your child you provide us with a list of people authorised to pick up your child. We will not release your child to anyone without proper identification and authorisation from you, the parent. 9. What happens when my child goes to school? We have a service for after school children - taken to and collected from school. Homework is supervised. Activities include Arts & Crafts, Football. Swimming Lessons with a qualified instructor at Ballyclare. Other outings and activities are arranged during the School Holidays. Admissions Policy 1. The nurseries will draw up a list of the names of children whose parents wish them to attend the nursery, together with the preferred starting dates and the number of sessions requested per week. Three weeks prior to the starting date the nursery will contact parents and inform them whether or not the child can be offered a definite place. 2. Children numbers will be regulated so that the maximum legally permitted is not exceeded. 3. Prior to a child's attendance at the nursery the parents or carers must complete and sign a contract or registration form. This provides the nursery with the following vital information: - Name, home address, and date of birth of each child.
- Starting date and number of sessions per week required.
- Arrangements for payment of fees
- Name, address and telephone numbers of parents or carers
- Emergency telephone numbers
- Special diets
- Arrangements for collection.
- Name, address and telephone number of the child's doctor.
- Illness and inoculation details.
- Details of any allergies.
- Parental consents on emergency procedures.
4. Parents of carers will also be asked to provide the nursery with any further information which they feel will enable us to take the best care of your children. This should include particular likes and dislikes in food, bottle feeding habits, dummy use, etc. Daytime sleeping patterns should also be written down together with any ways which seem successful in getting the child to sleep if there are any difficulties.
